The Brooks Memorial Hospital Nutritional Service Department has begun a new “Room Service” menu program for hospital inpatients. Typically, meal choices in hospitals are limited, meal times are set by the facility and menu choices must be made a day in advance. That is no longer the case at Brooks. Patients now order what they want, when they want it. Hospital patients are now provided with room service menus from which they can order their meal choice. There is no additional cost for this service, and it is very easy to use. Patients simply call a hospital extension and inform the Menu Clerk of their selections for their next meal. The Menu Clerk reviews the physician’s dietary orders for the patient and insures that what is ordered is appropriate for the patient. While trays are generally delivered at traditional meal times, patients may call any time during the day to place their order. Special requests are never a problem!

This new hotel-like menu system offers a broad selection of choices, from light fare to heartier dishes and is designed to accommodate everyone’s taste and appetite. This new program has been a big hit with the patients, who like the extensive menu and being able to order their meals when they want them.

In addition to providing healthy meals for patients, Brooks also offers a new "Guest Tray" option for visitors. For a nominal charge (approximately $5.00) visitors can order their meal from the patient menu. Guest Trays will be delivered at the same time as the patient meal, allowing visitor and patient to dine together.
