The Physical Therapy Department provides quality services to inpatients and outpatients through physician referral. Such services encompass evaluation of the patient and the therapeutic application of physical and chemical agents, therapeutic exercise and other procedures to maximize functional independence of the patient.

Treatment goals and plans are implemented in accordance with the diagnosis/prognosis and a treatment program is established to prevent and reduce disability, pain and restore lost function. Modalities include, but are not limited to, heat, cold, light, water, sound, electricity, massage, mobilization and therapeutic exercise with or without assistive devices.

Therapeutic intervention to focus on posture, locomotion, strengthening, endurance, balance, coordination, joint mobility, flexibility, decreased pain and functional abilities of daily living skills are included in the treatment plan for the patient. Isokinetic testing is also available. The Physical Therapy Department provides consultative, educational and other advisory services for the patient and their family as appropriate.
