Last week, Brooks hosted a special Q & A on the topic of “WHAT IS INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MANAGEMENT?” for referring physicians and medical staff at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk. Dr. Albert Akkerman, Brooks’ new Pain Management physician, presented information about the hospital’s new Pain Management Center, while Christine Schuyler, Commissioner of Chautauqua County Social Services/Public Health opened the program with remarks on the Chautauqua County Community Health Improvement Plan goal to prevent substance abuse in the County. Both organizations are working to address some of the common pitfalls and social concerns related to narcotic prescription abuse in the County.“
"There are many types of specialized procedures for the treatment of pain. My focus is on health and wellness - and to thoroughly diagnose the source of each patient’s pain, while avoiding some of the common pitfalls and social concerns that can be associated with pain management.”
