Dunkirk, NY – (November 25, 2014) - It is with sincere gratitude that I recognize our collective group of dedicated Brooks Memorial Hospital (BMH) employees who pitched in tirelessly during last week’s treacherous snowstorm. So many healthcare professionals demonstrated a true commitment to the hospital’s core values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence, by going so far above and beyond the call of duty. For me, it is very energizing to witness community members caring for their community in this way during difficult times.
Stories of staff members staying overnight - late night impromptu pizza parties - co-workers seamlessly covering shifts for one another - all illustrate the caring nature, sincerity, and strength of character in our employees. This foundation of values, I believe, is precisely what will be needed as we move forward together, with a commitment to providing access to high quality personalized healthcare for our community.
As tradition dictates at BMH, employees working at the hospital on Thanksgiving Day will be provided with a free turkey dinner. It is my hope that this small token of appreciation will warm them until they reach the comfort of loved ones on this day of celebration.
It is truly an honor and a privilege to recognize our staff’s dedication to the well-being of our patients and their families, as well as their demonstration of true teamwork during this Thanksgiving season and throughout the year.
With warm regards,
John Gary Rhodes, FACHE
Interim CEO, Brooks Memorial Hospital
