Eight young ladies, who are second-year students in a four-year nursing program, are participating in a cultural exchange program organized by SUNY Fredonia.
Each year since 1999, the Japanese students visit the community for two weeks to experience American culture. The students learn about healthcare in the U.S. by visiting hospitals and nursing homes, including an annual tour of the clinical departments at Brooks.
Students had an opportunity to observe and discuss the differences and similarities between the American and Japanese healthcare systems, including obstetrics, laboratory, imaging and physical therapy. The day culminated with a lunchtime Q&A session with members of the nursing leadership team.
