WHY?
Relationships.
These are the moments when we have the opportunity to do something remarkable in and for our community. The money raised at this dinner allows us to make a difference in the lives of people who need our help. It's for our neighbors and relatives. It's for friends and strangers. It's in our DNA as a hospital and community to help one another.
The rich history of the Brooks Memorial Hospital Auxiliary gives us an incredible example to follow. Time and time again they have led the way to bring resources forward at the most crucial times. The Auxiliary has kept the lights on over the years at Brooks Memorial Hospital…literally. In 1954 a violent storm hit the hospital causing a total power failure. Rather than leaning on a temporary solution of a loaned generator, the Auxiliary stepped up once again with a $14,200 donation that provided the emergency lighting needed. (Learn even more about the Brooks Memorial Hospital history here, and here.)
In his 1954-55 address, then Brooks Memorial Hospital President, Mr. Keena stated…
"The Women's Auxiliary should be re-named THE BACKBONE OF THE HOSPITAL. It continues to grow in size and attainments, as well as importance. I think we all should think back and try and imagine the hospital without the gifts and services of this great organization. We of the board and the community are proud of their sincerity of purpose and accomplishments."
So when we ask you to join us at a spaghetti dinner, you can see how it's about WAY more than a meal.
It's about connecting to us.
It's about joining our present to prepare for our future.
It's moving FORWARD, TOGETHER.
We hope you'll be able to make it out.
We are excited to see you on November 4th!
Most Sincerely,
Your Brooks Memorial Hospital family.
Your community.
Your friends.
Your hospital.
